There’s lot’s to do and enjoy when you are here, depending upon your interests, including:

Château Chavagnac is the perfect base from which to explore the diverse treasures of this region.

We are in the heart of Rhône wine country ideally placed for enjoying wine-tasting and visiting the vineyards and ‘caves’ of St Joseph, Condrieu, Cote Rotie, Hermitage, Crozes Hermitages, Cornas, St Peray, Cotes du Rhône and other appellations.

An abundant choice of walks. Several GR (Grande Randonnée) and other marked footpaths can be picked up within easy reach of Chavagnac.

St Jean de Muzols is the nearest village, 3 kms away down the hill with boulangerie, post office, supermarket and other essentials. Etables, in the other direction, also has an excellent boulangerie.

The towns of Tournon and Tain, only 5 kilometres away, offer all the amenities you might need: excellent restaurants (all prices), delightful local shops and markets, the Valrhona chocolate factory and shop in Tain, wine shops and ‘caves’.

There is also a Cinema and Theatre as well as a 15th century château and museum.

Swimming and fishing in the River Doux (2 kms from Chavagnac).

The Vivarais steam train running from Saint Jean de Muzols to Lamastre and river cruises on the Rhône.

6 restaurants with Michelin stars within a half-hour drive of Chavagnac.

Skiing (downhill and cross-country) is only 55 miles away in the Vercours National Park (about an 80 minute drive).

Horse riding is also available locally.
